The components of Ricovir-EM (Truvada) are emtricitabine (200mg) and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300mg) PDT. These are the active ingredients used in HIV-negative people. This type of treatment with RICOVIR MS is known as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), and people who use it see their risk of contracting HIV reduced almost entirely (99%).
Possible side effects occur in a very small proportion of patients, and may include nausea, malaise, fever or skin rashes that disappear immediately once PREP treatment is stopped. In addition, pre-exposure prophylaxis can be started and stopped at any time without any specific guidelines.
HIV-positive people should receive appropriate treatment and should not take it.
